Starting their careers: 214 new trainees worldwide at GROB

This September, 109 talented young people began their training or dual study programs at GROB's main plant in Mindelheim alone. The company is thus continuing its successful promotion of young talent and offering numerous young people the opportunity to start a qualified career this year as well.

Of the new recruits, 94 have opted for an apprenticeship. They are spread across a total of nine different apprenticeship professions: 21 are starting as electronics technicians for automation technology, 16 as mechatronics engineers, and 25 as industrial mechanics. Two trainees have opted for a career as warehouse logistics specialists, ten as technical product designers, and seven as cutting machine operators. In addition, five young talents are starting their training as IT specialists, five others as industrial clerks, and three as construction mechanics.

In addition, 15 dual students have started their careers at GROB. They are spread across four fields of study: six in mechanical engineering, five in electrical engineering and information technology, two in mechatronics, and two in industrial engineering.

This brings the total number of current trainees and dual students at the Mindelheim site to 357. To keep pace with this development, GROB is continuously investing in the expansion and modernization of its training facilities. This creates the ideal conditions for practical learning and modern training at the highest level. “For us, training is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about providing people with the best possible guidance and support in their development,” explains Florian Rauch, who heads the training department at GROB together with his colleague Andreas Jedelhauser.

Focus on community and internationality

As in previous years, all trainees took part in the popular introductory days at the Klosterwald Education and Experience Center near Ottobeuren at the beginning of September. The focus here is on team building: joint exercises enable the young colleagues to get to know each other better and prepare them optimally for the training years ahead.

Internationality also plays an important role at GROB. The company is particularly pleased to welcome two trainees from South Korea once again – a prospective electronics technician for automation technology and an industrial mechanic. In addition, trainees have the opportunity to gain valuable experience at GROB plants around the world in the USA, Brazil, or China as part of a three-week exchange program.

Attractive benefits for trainees

In addition to a modern training center covering 5,000 square meters, trainees at GROB benefit from numerous additional services. These include travel allowances, meal allowances, a fitness pass, and subsidies for housing and relocation costs. A special highlight: each year, the three best trainees are given a free e-leasing vehicle for six months in recognition of their achievements.

International start of training

In 2025, numerous young people also started their careers at GROB at its international locations. Seventeen trainees began in Brazil, 22 in China, seven in Italy, and 59 in the USA. With this strong intake of trainees, GROB once again underlines its role as an attractive training company – both regionally and internationally.
